“I’m sorry Mrs. Wittmann, as of the new year, you can have no more than fifty books checked out at one time,” the librarian told me apologetically.“Oh no! I’ve got forty Cinderella books on hold for a unit study the kids and I are working on. And I’ve probably got twenty books out on the Civil War, and then there are the books we check out just for fun. This is terrible!” I exclaimed, breaking out in a cold sweat, totally forgetting about the ten or so “real” math books sitting at home.

How wonderful that someone else checks out books like we do :) Our library fortunately doesn't have a limit. I use my library card for school books, books for me, DVDs and CDs. I use my daughters card for fun books for her and her brother. I use my husband's card only when I need to place more than the 13 per card holds we can make at our library. He of course uses it to check books out in his name too. I can't wait until my son is eligible for a card in December and we can further break the lists down. Our library doesn't give you a card with a date, but a print out with the titles of the books. Some of the check out ladies get annoyed with me because of the huge quanity we check out. Since my son is using picture books and easy readers we can check out tons of books and still not spend too long reading. We LOVE our public library!
