If being poor and hungry is so much to be desired, why do our parishes collect and distribute food, or provide clothes from their thrift shops, or help with rent payments?
This blog is written for homeschoolers, many of us living on one income in a two-income economy. Prayerfully, we will discover the fruits of living frugally . . . together. And maybe share a tip or two.

That was a very good article, but the Fr. Dubay book, Happy are you Poor is much, much better. He explains that gospel poverty IS to be desired, but there is a distinction between such poverty and destitution. Most of us are not called to be destitute, but we are all called not to waste the resources God has given us since what is extra of ours belongs to our brothers and sisters who have less.
